REM announced yesterday that they were breaking up. This is not a good thing. Not only does it mean that they'll never make music again, but also that I'll never get to see them live. In the summer of 2008 I almost went to see them and the National in Atlanta. As usual, time and money got in the way.
I've blogged previously about my experience with REM. They are definitely in my top 5 of favorite bands and played a very vital role in my musical development.
